Fellow Seniors,
On behalf of the Steering Committee of the Amanfoo Ashesi Endowment Fund, we are honored to welcome you to participate in this our bold and novel project initiative of Prempeh College alumni.
The 24th Prempeh College Pearson/Osae Appreciation Lectures was given by Dr. Patrick Awuah, President of Ashesi University on the topic of “Who will lead us tomorrow’. The program was successful and well received. Inspired by Dr. Awuah’s lecture, a group of seniors conceived the idea to establish mutually beneficial formal collaborations between Prempeh College and Ashesi University. Our initiative to collaborate with Ashesi University received broad support from eminent seniors both at home and abroad. On September 16th, 2023, following our presentation to the Amanoo North America (ANA), the Board of ANA passed a resolution to endorse and adopt the project to enhance its visibility, credibility and execution.
One of the key high points of our discussions with Ashesi University was to establish a named endowment fund at Ashesi University for the exclusive benefit of bright but needy Prempeh College students that gain admission to Ashesi University but cannot afford the cost of Ashesi University education.
With this objective in mind, we have committed ourselves to establishing the Amanfoo Ashesi Endowment Fund at Ashesi University and invite you to join us to achieve our goal.. The minimum capital amount for a named fund Ashesi University is US100,000 however, we have negotiated a special dispensation with Ashesi University to allow us to establish ours with an initial amount of $30,000 to secure the name, and top up to increase the fund amount to US$100,000 over the next 5 years through donations
The good news is that we secured the initial $30,000 amount required to establish the Amanfoo Ashesi Endowment Fund. What we need over the the next 5 years are the generous donations from the Amanfoo Community to top up the fund amount to $100,000 in order for Ashesi University to operationalize it and award scholarships and assistance to needy students.
Fellow Seniors, the Amanfoo Ashesi Endowment Fund, once established will be the first of its kind in Ghana. We are convinced of the benefits of this initiative and encourage Amanfoo to support it by donating any amount they can afford to the fund.
Through this initiative, we honor our alma mater Prempeh College, we give back to society and more importantly, we empower bright but needy students. As Ms. Toni Morrision, an American novelist puts it, “ If you are free, you need to free somebody else. If you have some power, then your job is to empower somebody else”. Let us come together and do just that.
We have put in place the best practices and internal financial controls to ensure transparency and accountability so that all donations will be well accounted for and directed towards the intended purpose solely.
Thank you in advance for your support and donations to the Amanfoo Ashesi Endowment Fund.

Education is the major life transforming vehicle and the Asheshi model even more desirable. It exposes the student to a greater desire for information and critical thinking processes and makes the student a desired graduate whether as an entrepreneur or as an employee. The association between Prempeh College and Asheshi University will be compelling and mutually beneficial.

Ashesi University stands tall when it comes to offering education that is WORLD-CLASS, as well as providing competitive global standards of Higher Education.
One of the most brilliant legacies any youth can inherit is to be a beneficiary of a scholarship scheme at Ashesi. I urge all Amanfo to support this brilliant idea of raising funds to set up scholarship schemes for deserving youths.

Higher education plays a pivotal role in shaping an individual’s future, offering not only the knowledge and skills necessary for career success but also fostering critical thinking, problem solving, and a deeper understanding of the world. Pursuing a higher education by attending a university opens doors to numerous opportunities, providing access to better job prospects, higher earning potential and personal growth.
However, the cost of of higher education remains a significant barrier for many aspiring students. The rising tuition fees and associated expenses can deter the most determined individuals from pursuing their academic goals. This is where scholarship funds become crucial.
As a result of the establishment of the Asheshi Scholarship Fund, we will ensure that no brilliant but needy student is left behind.
I am proud to be associated with this fund and will encourage all Seniors to contribute to a very good cause.

I believe that education is the most powerful tool for changing the world. By contributing to this fund, we are equipping the next generation with the knowledge and skills they need to make a difference in their communities and beyond. Snr. Benjamin Kweku Acolatse Esq, Butler House, 1985/87 Year Group. Board Chairman and Global President, Prempeh College.
As the current Board Chairman of Prempeh College and Global President of Prempeh College Old Students Association, I am delighted and highly motivated to be associated with the idea and concept of establishing Amanfoo Ashesi Endowment Fund. Ashesi University started from a humble beginning and currently it is among the best in Ghana and Africa. The educational model employed by Ashesi University is unique and forward looking so I take this opportunity to encourage the Board of Governors, Management, Staff, Old students and other stakeholders to embrace the Amanfoo Ashesi Endowment Fund.
Pursuing higher education has propelled me to higher heights in the corporate and professional ladder as well as appointments to leadership positions in society. As the adage goes ‘Knowledge is power’. In view of this and many other reasons, it behoves on all of us to ensure that our children, younger brothers and sisters gain admission to pursue higher education at the tertiary level, especially the brilliant and talented but needy students. It is interesting and inspiring to note that the Amanfoo Ashesi Endowment Fund is targeted at students who graduate at Prempeh College and aspire to pursue tertiary education at Ashesi University.
Seniors, Amanfoo and other stakeholders, let us come together to contribute generously to the Amanfoo Ashesi Endowment Fund. Please, see it as duty call to support the said Fund in nurturing our younger Amanfoo to acquire academic and professional excellence at Ashesi University so that they can in future compete favorably with the best professionals locally and globally.

The Amanfoo- Ashesi University partnership is a laudable concept that deserves all the support to make it successful. University education allows individuals to not only acquire knowledge but also develop the ability to formulate concepts, communicate effectively and network with other students. These are the future leaders of our country, and we must do our part to support them.

The importance of education cannot be overemphasized. I have been initiated by my education to understand that our education is not to serve self, but to serve society. That is one of the reasons why everywhere you go, education is either subsidized or it’s free. Education imparts confidence to face the world and increase our knowledge and understanding of a complicated world around us.
Every human must be educated and in the words of the slogan of the United Negro College Fund (UNCF), “A mind is a terrible thing to waste”. As the saying goes, education is a great ‘equalizer’ or a ‘leveler’, which puts us on equal or level terms with anyone. Education as it is said, must be used to soundly judge people and to appreciate human needs and directed to improve human conditions and not only self.
The endowment fund aims to raise US$100,000 to provide financial assistance to brilliant but needy graduates of Prempeh College who gain admission to Ashesi University but cannot afford the cost of the education.
